Journey to finding inner peace

Post By Emily

7/3/25

As I sit here today, I feel so many things around me. The air is full of energy and power but I can’t seem to get out of bed. I feel too much, so much so that it freezes me here in this moment. This is an occurrence that happens often. There’s so much going on in the world around me that it paralyzes me, numbs me, and hides my true feelings.

When days like this happened in the past, I would blame myself. Call myself lazy, worthless, or just plain useless and I would believe it, making it that much harder to move forward to find peace and balance within. But the new me, realizes it’s not about me. I am tuning into and carrying the weight of everything around me.

As empaths we naturally tune in to the energy around us and feel it as if it is our own. That’s why it is so very important for us to get to know our energy and protect it.

For 25 years of my life, I had no idea who I was, what my own soul looked like, or what it needed and wanted to get through each day and thrive. I looked around one day and didn’t recognize who I was, what I was doing, and honestly felt stuck. I had put myself in this position and it was time for me to get myself out.

As I began my journey of learning who I was, I realized what I wasn’t. I wasn’t the opinions of others, I wasn’t the energy that others projected on me, and I wasn’t responsible for the way others felt. For many years I took on responsibility for the feelings of those around me. We as empaths we have a tendency to carry so much responsibility and emotions that is not ours to take on. We are not supposed to take away their pain by giving it to ourselves. We are meant to create space for those people and to help in other ways such as being present and being a hand to hold through the pain. We were never meant to shoulder the pain of the world the way many empaths do. We are meant to feel others pain in order to find a way to best assist.

Allow yourself to feel ONLY your feelings.

We can’t help others if we’re constantly draining ourselves. We have to be able to find our inner peace and protect it with our lives, as it’s the most valuable thing you can have in this life.

Everyone will find inner peace in different ways, and it will feel slightly different in each soul. To find your inner “zen” you have to start by getting to know who you are and what brings your soul calm, peace, and comfort. For me I find peace in movement; walking, doing yoga, swimming. I also find peace in music and journaling. As I do these things and curate a sense of peace, I carry that feeling throughout the day. As you become familiar with your inner peace it will become easier to bring it to the surface in times of stress.

On this day I encourage you to slow down, be present, and allow time to find your inner peace.

Namaste
